Articles & Info ARTICLE: "The Tom Sawyer Growl Sound" - Back in 2003, someone on the alt.music.rush newsgroup asked how the synth sound at the start of Tom Sawyer (nicknamed the "Growl" sound by Geddy) was created and which synth Geddy might have used to create it. It just so happened at that time that I had spent a lot of time trying to recreate that sound myself, so I and another a.m.r regular named Scott wrote up a document about it. UPDATE Mar 18th 2008 - Added a link to .MID file that contains the patch data for my Tom Sawyer growl sound for a Roland SH-32 synthesizer. Instructions on downloading the file and then uploading it to your SH-32 are included in the article. |
